This article examines the legal right of employees to resign from their jobs, with a comparative analysis between Palestinian and Saudi labor laws. It highlights that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) guarantees the freedom to work and choose one’s profession, implying that employment relationships cannot be forced and employees have the right to resign. The article focuses on the regulatory frameworks governing resignation in both countries, particularly addressing the challenges and legal gaps concerning fixed-term contracts in Palestinian law and recent reforms in Saudi labor law that explicitly recognize the employee’s right to resign while balancing the interests of the employer.
